LIFELONGLEARNING
Good Hope • St. Henry • St. Mary
Our Lady of Good Hope Parish provides several opportunities throughout the year for adults to continue learning and developing their faith through a variety of Bible or other religious studies. Seasonal studies are or can be led by parishioners in any of our three parishes. Look for study postings on the home page of this website, the parish's Facebook page, and the weekly bulletins.
The Parish School of Religion ministry’s primary responsibility is to assist parents and families in the growth and development of their children’s faith. This is done through a Catholic religious education program where children meet once a week during the school year. This program serves children from preschool through eighth grade. OLGH Classes typically meet on Sundays from 9:45--10:45am at Bishop Leibold School West, September through May. There are also special events throughout the year that meet at different times.
Confirmation Preparation provides the opportunity for those wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation to study and reflect on the meaning of Christian discipleship and the effects of Confirmation in light of their own personal faith journeys. Preparation is open to all teens in 7th through 12th grade that have not yet received Confirmation. The program involves a series of sessions and retreats for teens as they journey in their faith with their parents and sponsors. The program is run by our Assoc. Dir. for Sacrament Preparation, Jen Sens. Registration begins in late summer, and Confirmation occurs in late spring. For more information, please click here.
Adults wishing to receive Confirmation Please contact your home parish office or 937-866-1432 to request help with more information.
Students in the second grade or higher wishing to receive their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion participate in a program for both students and parents to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Participation in a faith formation program is also required. First Communion is usually celebrated in second grade but accommodations are made for any older child who desires these sacraments. For more information on First Communion, please click here.
"The work of evangelization enriches the mind and the heart; it opens up spiritual horizons; it makes us more and more sensitive to the workings of the Holy Spirit, and it takes us beyond our limited spiritual constructs." – Pope Francis (Evangelii Gaudium 272)
